Brilliant Basics programme shortlisted for HSJ consultancy award

21 December 2022

The Point of Care Foundation supported the improvement programme at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Foundation Trust.

Brilliant Basics, an improvement programme at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Foundation Trust, has been shortlisted for an HSJ award for ‘Best Consultancy Partnership with the NHS’. The programme was launched in 2020 to achieve system-wide improvement throughout the Trust.

The Point of Care Foundation supported the programme in partnership with business services firm KPMG. Alongside KPMG’s support for lean management, we provided training in quality improvement techniques that put the voices of patients and families at the centre of improvement work across the Trust. This included bespoke sessions with the Alder Hey Trust board and work with service delivery teams. We also supported their staff advice and liaison service to ensure staff have access to forums for reflection.

This project is an example of work from our Implementation Support programme, where we use our Staff and Patient Experience expertise to help create organisation- or system-wide change.

We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Alder Hey in the next phases on the programme.
