Event details

What are Schwartz Communities of Practice?

Schwartz CoPs are online meetings where you have the chance to meet with fellow members of the Schwartz Community. During the meetings, we share and reflect on experiences of running Rounds, explore challenges and dilemmas, try out new ideas, and help shape the ongoing development of Schwartz Rounds and the Schwartz Community.

These meetings are facilitated by Schwartz mentors with support from the Point of Care Foundation Staff Experience team. Topics for each meeting are based around current issues affecting CoP members at the time.

Who can join?

CoPs are open to anyone involved in running Schwartz Rounds: facilitators, administrators, steering group members, project leads and senior leader Schwartz round sponsors.

When do the meetings take place?

Meetings take place every 2–3 months, usually online via Teams or Zoom.

If you decide to join a CoP, we’ll add you to the group and you’ll be sent information about upcoming meetings. There is no pressure to attend every meeting as we appreciate everyone’s diaries are busy and often unpredictable.

Which CoP should I join?

To help you choose the most suitable CoP network(s) for you, we have prepared a list of Communities of Practice running within the Schwartz Community below with descriptions of each:

  1. Regional Schwartz CoPs – these networks were set up for people running Schwartz Rounds in a particular region of the UK. Currently these take place predominantly online and are open to anyone who wants to join.

At the moment, the following areas are covered by Regional Schwartz CoPs:

  • Northeast England
  • Northwest England
  • Northern Ireland
  • Midlands of England
  • Southwest England
  • Southeast England
  1. CoPs for specific areas of practice:
  • Higher Education Institutions (HEI) CoP – a network for people running Schwartz Rounds in higher education settings.
  • Integrated Care Services CoP – a network for people running Schwartz Rounds focused on Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).
  • Social Care Homes CoP – a network for people running Schwartz Rounds in care homes or domiciliary care services
  • Local Authority Children’s Social Care CoP – a network for people running Schwartz Rounds in local authority social care services for children, young people and families.

NB. Apart from the HEI CoP, all CoPs for specific areas of practice are currently being set-up. By joining one of these, you will have an opportunity to play an active part in how it develops.
