Applications now open for 2nd cohort of Schwartz small

21 April 2016

We are now accepting applications from organisations wishing to join our second cohort of ‘Schwartz small’, designed for smaller organisations such as hospices or GP federations.  The core components of the Schwartz small model are the same as for NHS trusts, but some training is delivered online and mentoring is shared between organisations.

Research shows that all healthcare staff face similar emotional challenges in providing care, regardless of the setting. This new training and support package allows us to extend the reach of Rounds and support more staff to give compassionate care.

The ten organisations who formed the first cohort have all completed the e-learning programme and are currently running their first Rounds. 100% of facilitators who have been trained using this model reported that the programme was easy to access and understand.  One person commented that “the presentation style of the on-line learning was excellent. It was well-designed and a pleasant experience to engage with it.”

The new package costs £4,500 for a two-year contract, which includes the licence to run Rounds, access to online training and membership of the Schwartz community, an online hub containing helpful resources.

There is a set timeframe to follow, with training starting in October 2016. Prior to that, organisations will need to gain buy-in from senior management, secure funding and set-up the necessary internal structures to prepare for the implementation to Schwartz Rounds.  You can download the information pack for full details.

To speak to someone about Schwartz Rounds, please contract our Programme Manager Esther Flanagan on 020 3841 5574.  The application form can be downloaded from our website.

Deadline for applications: 20 June 2016
