We are pleased to announce the shortlist for the first ever Schwartz Awards.

The awards are an opportunity for individuals, teams and organisations to express and celebrate some of the fantastic achievements which Schwartz Rounds have enabled.

31 organisations were shortlisted across the four categories.

Jocelyn Cornwell, chief executive of The Point of Care Foundation, said:

“I am overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown by the dedicated staff who run Rounds.

Considering that the time of healthcare staff is already so stretched and precious, the fact that people went to so much effort to share their stories and experiences really highlighted how much Schwartz Rounds are valued amongst staff, as well as the positive impact they are having within their working culture.

I really enjoyed looking through all of the touching and innovative submissions and felt reassured that our work continues to support healthcare staff across the UK and Ireland.”

Nicki Power, Schwartz Rounds facilitator at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), said:

“We are delighted to be shortlisted for the awards. The success of Schwartz Rounds in SLaM is owed to the wholehearted involvement of staff – from those who have told their stories, those who have come to Rounds, and those who have helped us with all of the practical arrangements.

We are proud to be recognised by The Point of Care Foundation, who share SLaM’s values of looking after ourselves and each other to better care for our patients.”

The winners in each of the four categories will be announced at the two regional Schwartz Community conferences taking place on 27 October in London and 24 November in Manchester.  You can see the shortlist in full below.

Notes to editors:

Schwartz Rounds are structured, monthly one-hour meetings open to all of the staff within an organisation.  The purpose is to reflect on the experience of working in healthcare, rather than to solve problems or look for outcomes.  Evidence shows that staff who attend Rounds feel more supported, valued and connected with others.
