We are one of sixty-eight charity leaders to have signed a joint letter to Prime Minister Theresa May, calling for a revised funding settlement for health and care.

The letter, which has come from National Voices, sets out the current problems in the NHS and social care and argues that current pressures stem from care models which are not suitable for the population’s needs.

It recommends that ‘a new settlement for funding health and care should be included in the forthcoming Spring Budget’, and that the Government should ‘reaffirm … [its] support for the Five Year Forward View and prioritise person-centred and community-focused approaches’. It also emphasises the importance of the Five Year Forward View as still ‘the best plan available for creating a modern and sustainable health and care service’ which can ‘meet [our] twenty-first century needs.’
